Dr Ching graduated from University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering and a Master of Business Administration degree. He obtained a Doctor of Business Administration from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Dr Ching is a professional accountant and a fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants since 1996. He worked as chief financial officer in three companies listed in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange for ten years before he joined PolyU in 2008. Dr Ching has extensive knowledge about listing rules and the accounting profession in Hong Kong.
Dr Ching currently serves as assistant program leader of BBA (Hon) in Accounting and Finance.
